Our Mission

Healing light and serenity helps men and women who are discovering who they are as a result of experiencing varying degrees of trauma and grief throughout their life span. We provide a safe environment individually and via small groups conducive to learning the necessary tools to navigate through the effects of these life altering events. We empower our clients by encouraging a whole-body experience, emotionally and spiritually, in order to feel the ease of healthy boundaries, increased self-awareness, and to become more confident and capable to take on new challenges with success.

Sheri R. Stevens, MSSA LISW-S

Founder of Healing Light & Serenity Counseling

Professional Bio

Sheri Stevens is a Licensed Independent Social Worker with nearly 30 years of experience supporting individuals and families through life’s most challenging transitions. Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Sheri’s journey into the helping professions has been shaped by personal growth, service, and a deep commitment to healing.

After three years of college, Sheri felt called in a different direction and joined the U.S. Army Reserves, where she served for a decade. Her time in the military became a powerful path of self-discovery—an early step in redefining her purpose beyond expectations.

The loss of her mother at age 27 became a pivotal moment, sparking Sheri’s return to higher education and inspiring the founding of Healing Light and Serenity, a mission-driven practice named in loving memory of her mother. Sheri earned her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Cleveland State University and later completed her Master’s of Science in Social Administration at Case Western Reserve University.

Throughout her career, Sheri has worked across the lifespan—supporting adolescent girls, young parents, families, elders, and trauma survivors. Her experience includes in-home family therapy, therapeutic care for children and families, and extensive work with individuals impacted by sexual abuse and trauma. She is deeply committed to trauma-informed care and takes pride in creating a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space for healing.

Sheri is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Somatic Experiencing (SE), approaches that help clients reconnect with their bodies, process pain, and build emotional resilience. She believes healing involves the whole self—emotionally, physically, and spiritually—and that through self-awareness and acceptance, individuals can rediscover purpose and joy.

Beyond her professional work, Sheri is a Christian, a wife of 25 years, and a proud mother to her 24-year-old son. She brings empathy, strength, and unwavering presence to her work, believing that being part of another person’s healing journey is one of life’s greatest honors.
